In the 1:1 ratio an individual learner is working independently on a learning activity. Here are some ideas for engaging learners in independent activities:

Start

    each day (before class begins) with a quick picture of the day, math problem of the day,news story of the day, etc. that prompts the student to write a creative sentence or poem, solve a problem, develop an idea to present in a lesson being taught that day

Set up

    a scavenger hunt where each student must find a series of pictures or examples of a concept taught the day before.

Engage

    each student with an online or software based interactive simulation to explore a math or science concept.
