Technology Integration 101 – Tutorial – Technology Integration and Reflection Tool: Web-Enhanced Learning Environment Strategies (WELES)

weles

In order to better understand how to use technology in your classroom we are providing you with the WELES model and reflection tool. This tool provides educators with a road map through the myriad of resources available on the Web, and a framework for reflecting about how these different types of resources may be used with six different Methods of Teaching using four key Lesson Strategies. The resulting four central Web-Enhanced Learning Environment Strategies (WELES) follow a typical lesson sequence: framing a lesson, informing learners, providing for content exploration by the learner, and allowing learners to try out newly acquired skills, knowledge, and inclinations.

The WELES reflection tool is provided as an overview of the conceptual interrelationship between teaching methodology, Web or technology-based categories of resources, and purposeful classroom practices. Educators can often see from this overview, a broader conception of how the web can be used in classroom teaching and learning. Click here  to download or print a short booklet on WELES.

Let’s get started by reviewing the beliefs, theory, and pedagogy that this model is built on.
