Technology Integration 101 – Elements

DISTINCT ELEMENTS OF TECHNOLOGY represent a source of raw material from which lessons can be enhanced. These resources can be used to frame, or set a lesson, within a real or imaginary context. They can be used to inform students about the content in a lesson, enable your students to explore concepts, or try out new learning. Elements include numbers, narratives, lists of references, still images, animations, video clips, sounds, and tools. Anyone of these types of elements can be used outside of the context from which they are presented on the web. For example, a picture of a rhino from a news article on the zoo in a local paper can be used without the story line, to provide a classroom with examples of animal near extinction.

Examples of Technology Integration using Site Elements

– Provide images, animations, or video clips to raise students’ curiosity.

– use data or simulations from organized sites to introduce topic

– chat, conferencing, or other technology-based communication tools used to allow a guest speaker present topic of interest.
