Technology Integration 101 – Practice #2
Time for practice #2. First… Think about another lesson that you will be teaching in the next couple of weeks, one that you enjoy teaching and that would like to integrate with technology.
- What are the subject matter and objectives of the lesson? What standards is the lesson covering?
- What are the successful methods that you have used to facilitate this lesson in your classroom previously?
- What resources did you engage your students with?
- How (in what part of the lesson) did you engage your students with these resources and the subject matter?
- What technology resources have you used for this lesson?
- What would you like to do differently to engage the students with the subject matter through technology, either individually or in groups?
Second… Think about the results you received from the self-assessment on the level of your technology integration.
Third… Look at the next level of technology integration, above your current level and think about how you can create a lesson that embodies the next level of technology integration. Perhaps brainstorm some ideas with a colleague or generate your own list of ideas.
Fourth… Write or revise your lesson plan to integrate technology into one part of the lesson based on the next higher level of technology. Follow the steps from practice 1(listed below) to prepare, conduct, and evaluate your lesson.
- Write your lesson plan using the WELES lesson planner [here] or use a format of your own choosing.
- Identify (search for if necessary) and document the specific technology resources you plan to use during the lesson.
- Once you have drafted your lesson plan, share and discuss your lesson with a colleague. Use this rubric to help you evaluate your activity or lesson plan.
- Based on the discussion with your colleague, revise your lesson.
