Technology Integration 101 – Methods of Teaching

Each method of teaching has it own strength and is used to meet a variety of needs for learners, types of learning, and resources used. They are often are selected based on the educators preferences and record of success. Some methods are more teacher-centered ( presentation, and guided or discovery lerning), and some are more learner-centered (collaborative learning, and problem-based learning).

The WELES model does not suggest that any method of teaching is preferable. However, the WELES model identifies how different technology resources may be used effectively to help enhance the educator’s preferred method of teaching, given the type of technology resource access available in the learning environment, and the type of learning that is being facilitate.

In this section we will look each of the six Methods of Teaching and how we can integrate technology to support your prefered method.
