Technology Intergation 101 – Overview

idle_computers
Just because technology resources are available does not mean that they will be integrated into teaching and learning practices. What educators actually decide they and their students will do with the technology in the classroom is dependent upon personal dispositions (e.g., attitudes, perceptions, proficiencies), knowledge of integration models, access, support structures, and policies in the schools. Impacting educators’ practices are the realities of the classroom… environment, students, curriculum requirements, and the multiple perspectives of pedagogy, all of which, in turn, will affect the level of technology integration achieved in the learning environment.

teacher_thinkingHave you thought about these variables in your current teaching, with and without technology?

Why do you or do you not use computers or other technologies regularly in your classroom?

Are your uses, no matter how frequently or infrequently, truly integrating technology?

After you are done thinking about these questions, you are ready to go on to learn more about meaningful technology integration and how it impacts you and your students.
